Letter from the family: Hello Homes of Hope, I would like to greet you warmly and hope that you are well. My name is Lizbeth Hernandez Cordova, I am 35 years old and I am a single mother of two children. I am seeking your support so that my children can have a home of their own. Because the truth is that it is difficult for me to make this dream come true. Thank God, I am not paying rent now because the church I attend is lending me a place to live and this helps me a lot. It allows me to make the monthly payments for my land and meet the personal needs of my children and myself. We greatly appreciate your work as many families are blessed through you. I firmly trust in God because nothing is impossible for Him and I know that He is always with us. I would be very grateful for your support, as it would be a great joy to my heart. Without further ado, I thank God for your work and I bless you, the Hernandez Cordova family.

Letter from the family: Hello Homes of Hope, my name is Frida, I am 26 years old. It is a pleasure to greet you. I address you with the most attentive greeting and I hope that you are very well. My family is made up of my husband, Eduardo Quintero Dias, your servant, Frida Abigail Ureta Cazares, and my baby, Axel Quintero Ureta, for whom we fight every day to give him a better future. Our plans to have a house began two years ago, and I want to share with you that finding a piece of land and starting to pay for it has not been easy at times. However, we continue to fight for this dream of having a house soon. Right now we are living in my mother-in-law Leticia's house in one room. The truth is that there are times when we can only meet the needs of the day but what gives us the most joy is seeing our little kid. And we are happy to see him take his first steps in a better place, a house on our property. We thank God for the work you are doing to help those who need it most. We will always be grateful to you for allowing us to be part of the story of Homes of Hope. Again, we thank God and wish that He will always bless you greatly. Without further ado, please accept a big hug from us, the Quintero Ureta family.

Varillas Sanchez - The Alphine Chapel (Green Team)

Date Build: Friday 18th - Saturday 19th, October 2024

FAMILY INFORMATION

MOTHER: Norma

AGE: 30 years old

JOB: Cleaning houses

SALARY WEEKLY: $130 US

CHILDREN:

Melissa - 10 years old

Alexander - 4 years old

OTHER PEOPLE LIVING WITH THE FAMILY:

Maricela (sister) - 26 years old

LETTER FROM THE FAMILY:

Hello Homes of Hope my name is Norma, I am 30 years old, I am from a state in the south of Mexico. I am a single mother of two children. I have been living in Tijuana for five years. Previously I was renting but they did not accept children. So I had to look for another place. Unfortunately I was not able to find another option where I could live because everywhere I went they told me that they did not accept children, the places were too small or the rent was too high; so my budget was not enough to cover this or the other needs that I had to meet. This is why I made the decision to buy a piece of land. Because of my current situation, building a house is too expensive and my salary is low. So it is not possible for me to provide my children with a good place where they can be safe. When I found out about the support that Homes of Hope provided it was very encouraging for me. I am currently living on my land with my two children, in a room that I was able to build with a lot of work. I wish we could be in a place where we had more space and where it is safer. We have gone through sad situations, also happy ones, but we never forget to look towards God and ask for His help. Thank you so much for considering our family for this wonderful gift. God bless you so much!

Lopez Ruiz - Hope Sports (Blue Team)

Date Build: Surday 11th - Sunday 12th, October 2024

FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Liliana

Age: 28 years old

Job: cashier store

Salary Weekly: $130 US

CHILDREN

Luis Tadeo - 8 years old

Fernanda - 6 years old

Letter from the family: Hello!! My name is Liliana, I’m a mom of two wonderful kids named Luis and Fernanda. My mom and my stepfather live with us too. We’ve been in Tijuana for the past 3 years, we come from the south of Mexico. We are a very hardworking family. Back in our city we worked on sales but during the pandemic our business was heavily affected and we lost it. In an attempt to pay for our debts we had to sell our house. We have some family in Tijuana so we decided to come and to start again. I’ve been a single mom for the past 6 years because my husband was abusive towards me and had many addictions. I tried to help him and I forgave him many times even after hitting me when pregnant and hurting my children in many ways. When I got here to this city we were living with my aunt for 6 months and then we started to rent separately. Tired of renting for two years I started saving for a down payment and bought my own piece of land to pay for it monthly. A friend gave me some wood and my step dad helped me build a little room to move into my land. Then when everything was ready I asked my mom and stepdad to come live with me since I didn’t have anyone to be with my children while I was at work. So I do my monthly payments and between the three of us we buy groceries. Our house is very humble and when the wind blows sometimes it feels like it is going to fall because it is not properly built. Our roof doesn’t have protection and every night it leaks with the night mist. My biggest dream is to give my children a beautiful home. That's why I come to you to ask for your help, we would be so grateful if you could give us a Home of Hope. God bless you and thank you so much!!!

Santa Clara Cervantes - Hope Sports (Orange Team)

Date Build: Friday 11th - Saturday 12th, October 2024

FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Alondra Monserrat

Age: 26 years old

Job: Factory

Salary Weekly: $130 US

FATHER: Gustavo

Age: 28 years old

Job: cook

Salary Weekly: $200 US

CHILDREN

Angel - 11 years old

Maricela - 5 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello! My name is Gustavo and my wife’s name is Alondra. We have two children Angel and Maricela. My wife and I met in 2011 when I was only 15 and she was 13, that’s when our love story started. We started dating and one year later we were pregnant. I was so scared when she gave me the news, I didn’t know what it was like to be a father or to raise a child. She was also scared but we faced it with responsibility and in December 11 of 2013 our beautiful son was born. He’s 11 years old now and I still call him my baby even if he doesn’t like him a lot. At my age it was very hard to find a job. Sometimes I used to work with my father in law in construction and sometimes I would do other jobs, but they would always underpay me because of my age. It was a very hard beginning for us. The day I turned 18 I was able to get my ID and I went that exact day because I really wanted to have a job with health insurance and other benefits for my family. Then we were able to become independent since we were living with my wife’s family at the beginning, to whom we will always be grateful for helping us at the beginning. That same year we became pregnant with our second child, our princess Maricela. It was then that we started dreaming of having our own home, because at this point we both started working to be able to cover all of our expenses. With a lot of effort we were able to save enough money for a downpayment for a piece of land. We were so happy because finally we were going to be free from paying rent. We took a bank loan and we started building a home. We had placed some of the wooden walls but overnight people came and stole them. We cried a lot because we had put a lot of effort into it and we were still paying for the loan, the land monthly payments, rent and our daily expenses. Thank God a little after that we heard about Homes of Hope and we applied. It would be our dream come true to receive the gift of a Home. God bless you so much!

Nahara - 15 years old

Anderson - 13 years old

Dania - 10 years old

Donovan - 8 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello my name is Monserrat Chavez. My family and I arrived to Tijuana in 2015 in search of a better life and fleeing the insecurity from our city Apatzingan, Michoacan; where everyday there are attacks between the cartels and the police. So we decided to look for refuge and a new life in Tijuana. We had also heard there were a lot of job opportunities here do to the many factories so with the little money we had saved we came and we started renting a small room. It was hard for the first years since we didn’t have anyone in the city. Someone to run to if things got hard and we had all of the intentions to work in the factories; but it was very time consuming and our children could not be by themselves for that long. In the end only my husband continued working and I had to stay home taking care of the children since they were little. After a couple years I started selling in the flea market and buying and reselling clothes so then we decided to put more work into sales so we could spend more time with our children. We continue working very hard so we can be close to our family with all the intentions of growing and being an example for them. Thank you so much for considering our family for this wonderful gift, it would really change our lives to receive a Home of Hope.

Letter from the family:

Hello!! My name is Lilia Lizeth. We come to ask for your help in faith because we are currently living with three other families in the same house. We did this to save some money and because where we were renting they were elevating the rents and we just couldn't afford them anymore. We rent two rooms in this house and we share the common spaces. We own a couple furniture items but only what’s indispensable. We’ve been working really hard to prepare our land to build a house because our children dream of living in the privacy of their own home. My health is not very good I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and arthritis and that has increased our expenses. Thank God I have a temporary job that is giving me insurance and that's covering all of my medical expenses. Receiving a Home of Hope would give our children the stability they deserve. Thank you so much for this opportuniry, God bless you so much!!!

Westminster Presbyterian Church - Berriel Torres (Purple Team)

Date Build: Saturday 28th - Sunday 29th, September 2024

FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Erika

Age: 50 years old

Job: Kitchen helper

Salary weekly: $150 US

CHILDREN

Erick - 13 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello!!! My name is Erika, I’m a single working mom and I have a great dream of giving my son a comfortable home. One that doesn’t get wet and cold when it rains. It breaks my heart to see our situation sometimes and what my son has to go through with me. It’s hard for us to save money to improve our house because of all of our expenses. The most important thing for me right now it’s my son's education and I'm trying to give him everything he needs concerning that. I just want him to have a good future when I’m not here. We moved to our piece of land when my son was 5 years old. It was a very expensive piece of land and it was hard to make the monthly payments but I haven’t stopped working, even extra hours to make the payments on time. But I can’t work at peace because sometimes I have to leave my son alone at home and I get out of work pretty late at night. It’s hard for my son to be alone at home because the house is not very safe and the area either. Our roof leaks when it rains and creaks with the wind. My son’s dream is to have a lot of money so I don’t have to work and can stay with him. He also longs to have his own room and some privacy. I thank you for this opportunity and for everything you do for families like ours. God bless you!!!

Bonita Valley Church - Mayo Uscanga (Purple Color)

Date Build: Friday 20th - Saturday 21st, September 2024

FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Mariana

Age: 32 years old

Job: factory

Salary weekly: $150 US

FATHER: Toribio

Age: 33 years old

Job: factory

Salary Weekly: $130 US

CHILDREN

Brian - 13 years old

Maria - 7 years old

Randi - 3 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello!! We are a family from the south of Mexico. I met my wife when I was 17 and she was 16. We started living together when I was 19 and she was 18. We didn’t have a place of our own so we lived with her mom for a while. We had some disagreements with my wife’s family so we left and we started again from scratch living in a little wood house that belonged to one of my wife’s sisters. We literally had nothing. At that time I was working in the fields and sometimes my wife would come to help me too. We would harvest tomatoes and plant corn and rice when it was the season for it. Soon my wife got pregnant with our first son and because there were not enough work opportunities in our town, I left in search of the American dream so I could give a proper home to my wife and son. I left when my wife was 7 months pregnant and I asked my mom to take care of her while I was aways. I tried to cross the border but I didn’t make it across so I came back and soon my wife had our baby. After I had our baby in my arms I gave up on the American Dream and never again tried to leave. I kept working at the fields harvesting sugar canes and mango, during the season. Some seasons there was no work and it was hard for us but God would always help us giving us strength for every day. When our son turned 5 we decided to have another one and my wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl we named Maria Fernanda. Money was tight at that time because our first born was starting to go to school and on top of that we had to buy diapers and milk and everything the baby needed. Our situation was very desperate and I heard from a friend that in Tijuana there were a lot of work opportunities and the salaries were better than working in the fields, so I left alone and then found a way to bring my wife and children to be with me. We started again from scratch. Years passed by and both kids now were enrolled in school so now we had more expenses so my wife started to work too. Then my wife became pregnant with our third child during the pandemic and because of the pandemic she lost her job. I was able to keep my job thank God. Our family was growing and our oldest son wanted his own space. We could barely fit in the room we were in. The landlord soon asked us to leave and we had to look for another place, it was even smaller than the first one. The walls and roof were bad and it would leak everywhere during the rainy season. The room would get very cold and damp and our little girl started to get sick because of it and then our son too so we decided it was time to purchase a piece of land so we could stop paying rent. We asked for a loan to give the downpayment and make a little room and we left to live in our own land. During the rainy season this room would also leak and get very damp and cold, our floor was still made of dirt so it would get very muddy inside. My wife asked for another loan to make a concrete floor so the children would not get sick. Later my wife's sister also came to live with us so we were even more tight. We're trying to lend them a hand but our space is very reduced. Our children would love to have more space and privacy, they ask us for more but it doesn’t matter how hard we work, we can’t make it. We do our best but we can’t. A neighbor told us about Homes of Hope and that’s why we are here asking for your help. We’re trying really hard to give our children the best we have and they really long to have a better home. Soon our youngest will start going to school too and our expenses will be even more. With God’s help we hope we can receive this home. We put everything in God’s hands and we pray that his will may be done. Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story.

Age: 37 years old

Job: factory

Salary Weekly: $130 US

CHILDREN

Edwin - 9 years old

Axel - 13 years old

Brandon - 17 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello! My name is Martha Patricia Martinez Chacon. I came to Tijuana with my three children some years ago because one of them was very sick but back in my town the doctors couldn’t help us, they never gave us a diagnosis. Thank God here in Tijuana after 4 years the doctors were able to diagnose my son with Autism and since then I started working very hard to give my son the medical help he needed. Thank God now he can talk, walk and even run. After all the therapy he has been taking, he’s a very different child. I’ve always worked at night in factories because that way I could take my other two children to school and my other son to therapy. The therapies lasted sometimes 3 or 4 hours. It’s only been 3 years since I’ve been with my current partner. For a while we worked together to share the expenses but last November I got sick and I lost my job so since January I’ve been cleaning a house a couple times a week, but I don’t make much. Now my oldest son works too, so that helps us somehow with our weekly expenses. Having our own home would relieve us from the big weight of paying for rent and for the land. Thank you so much for considering our petition, it would mean the world for us to receive a Home of Hope.

FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Nery

Age: 33 years old

Job: Sales elotes

Salary weekly: $160 US

CHILDREN

Hernan - 7 years old

Letter from the family:

Hello!! My name is Nery, I’m a single mom of a wonderful 7 year old named Hernan. Our life hasn’t been easy since my pregnancy. My ex-husband abandoned us since he found out I was pregnant. It was a very difficult time for me. We had made plans to start a family together and when the moment came, he backed up and left us. My pregnancy was high risk and the doctors told me I was going to lose the baby and that I needed to abort him. Thank God I didn’t listen to them and I took a more natural approach to keep the baby. Some of my family then moved to Tijuana and I moved with them and started working as a cashier in a taco shop. It was very hard because I had to go through all of the pregnancy by myself. I was renting and working and saving for the baby’s birth and the father of my baby never took any responsibility at all. After he was born for his first year I worked very hard and I started selling food so I could be with him and provide for our needs at the same time. Then I found another job and I hired a nanny to babysit him during the night. I was working from 6:00pm to 5:00 am. When my son turned 5 years old I noticed he needed more attention and he was turning very rebellious because I was not spending enough time with him, so I decided to switch jobs again. I tried selling a couple things in the streets and now I’m currently selling corn. I wake up at 7:00am, I take my son to school and when I pick him up I take him with me to sell every afternoon from 3:00pm to around 9:40 pm. While we are in our little stand we do his homework and we spend time together. My son has changed a lot since we get to spend more time together. It’s very beautiful but hard also at times since I’m all he has. He still doesn’t know much about his dad but one day I will tell him all the truth when he’s grown up a bit more. Sometimes my situation is very tiring and frustrating but I keep trying my best. My child is my motivation and I thank God everyday for saving him, because he is my miracle child. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for supporting single moms like me. Sometimes we feel very lonely and at times it seems like all the doors shut in front of our faces, but I’ve seen God always has something better for us. For single moms and dads equally. Thank you again, and God bless you.

Letter from the family:

Hello!!! My name is Karen Jaquelin. I'm a stay at home mom of two little children. My husband works as a bartender. He’s very hardworking but sadly what we make weekly is still not enough to cover all of our needs. Sometimes I try to help him by cleaning houses or taking care of other children to make a bit of extra money but it only gives us enough income to pay the bills. I've been paying for my land for the past 5 years and it was just me taking care of all of our expenses since I was a single mom. Now I have Antonio and we help each other but we also have another baby so our expenses have increased. The father of my first child doesn’t help me at all and that’s why I haven’t been able to do much for my land. Sometime ago we started saving and thank God we were able to make a little room on our land to try to move in there but it’s very rustic. The floor is still dirt and we don’t have running water or electricity. So I ask with all of my heart for your help. It would really make all the difference in our lives if we could move to our land and have a safe place that belongs to us. Thank you so much for considering our petition.

FAMILY INFORMATION:

MOTHER: Violeta

Age: 49 years old

Salary weekly: $150 US

CHILDREN

Hector - 16 years old

David - 18 years old

Letter from the family: Hello!!! My name is Violeta. I’m a single mom of three wonderful children. Two that still live with me and one that passed away some years ago. He was 15 and he had special needs. I also have my own health problems, I often get seizures and I lose consciousness of anything that’s happening around me. Some years ago we had a fire in our house while we were sleeping and when I woke up to it I started having seizures, there was nothing I could do to help my children. They took us to the hospital and when I woke up from my seizures it had been a couple days and one of my sons had passed away, the one with special needs. He had a heart attack. He inhaled too much of the smoke and had other complications and there was nothing I could do to help him. My health is not improving and my biggest fear is that if I die my children won’t have a place to live. We just want a safe place where we can be together. We sincerely ask for your help and thank you so much for considering us for a Home of Hope.

Letter from the family:

Hello!! We are the Reyes Hernandez family. We ask for your help because our situation is very difficult right now. We are living in my mom’s house just a couple blocks from our land. We've been living with our family since the beginning, always trying to become independent but with no succes. We've lived with them because we wanted to save money and invest everything we could in our land but it’s very hard to live with other people and not have any privacy to start our own live. Where we currently live, in my mom's house the conditions are very dangerous, the house is old and damaged and it's basically falling apart. There’s also a lot of other people living in the same house so it makes our enviroment very chaotic. That's why we’ve been wanting to move out for a while but with our daily expenses and the monthly payments we just haven’t been able to build anything for ourselves. Receiving a Home of Hope would really make all the difference in our family. Thank you so much for considering us for this beautiful gift! God bless you!!!

Letter from the family:

Hello!! We are the Hernandez Centeno family. We are applying for a Home of Hope because we want to give our son a better life quality since the conditions we are currently living in are very unfortunate. Our roof leaks everytime it rains and it gets very damp and cold inside. We've tried putting a tarp over it but it still doesn't work very well because the winds have ripped it over time. My son is not a kid that complains because of the stituation we live in, but we want to be able to give him something better, the home that he deserves. We've tried to save money to fix the house but with the school expenses and just the day to day needs we haven't been able to. My husband also helps his parents sending them money every week so they can buy mediciones since they are very sick and old. We use my salary to pay for the land monthly and the day to day needs. We are not a family that is used to expensive things or luxury, we just want to have a home where we can be protected even in the bad weather. We know there are people in worst situations than ours but we ask that you consider us and thank you so much for taking the time to read this, God bless you for everything you do to help families like ours!
