The property came with a small wood room but the previous owner told her it's only temporary, and that she will need a new one because the wood is in really bad shape and it is not safe.

They work by going to a specific places with other people, normally in some popular corner and they wait for people from the ranch nearby to come and say that they need a certain number of workers for a job. He earns between $180 - $200 pesos per day (Around $10 Dlls), but this is only on the days he can get a job. Daniela doesn’t have a job, she stays at home taking care of the children.

With a lot of hard work they were able to buy a piece of land and made a small room with scraps that they could find or buy. Gerardo works all week packing vegetables making $145 pesos per week (Around $8 USD). The house they live is in really bad shape as it is barely standing and can’t really protect them from rain or cold.

Amada decided to come to Ensenada where her mother lived and it became clear that Amada was affected psychologically by all the emotional abuse she suffered from her relationship with her children's father.  Amada's mother bought her and the kids a piece of land and that is where they have been living. They live in a small home in very bad conditions. Amada has two children, a 16 yr old and a 15 yr old. Amada works cleaning properties; she doesn't always have work and sometimes they don't have money. For this reason, they haven't been able to build a proper house. The three of them live alone, but all have faith that one day they will be able to have something safe to live in.

The zone where they live doesn't have running water and that is an added expense. Javier's salary has to cover their food, water, clothing, land payments, and any emergency. They have lived in Ensenada for more than 3 years. The first year they rented until they were able to buy land on credit and start building a small structure to move into. Their current living conditions are very difficult because they have to eat and sleep in a small plastic room, making sure their kids do not get sick. Their desire is to have a home that is safe and where they can live without any fear of being cold, or dealing with getting wet during the rainy season. They have been praying to God for a house and and their dream is that one day they will.

Nayeli and Fabian got engaged and Nayeli returned home with the fear that her parents weren't going to let her leave them again. Three months after returning home, her parents gave her permission to return to Ensenada and Nayeli surprised Fabian. At this time, Nayeli found out she was pregnant with Fabian's child. They were both living in a rented room when they brought their daughter home. When their daughter was 8 months old, Nayeli was once again pregnant. It was at that time that they decided to get a piece of land and build their own home to live in. They continue to pay off the land, the montly payment being approx. $58. They had a rough start, and struggled to build a home. They were given the wood from a lady who was moving back to Oaxaca and had tore down her house. Their second daughter was born and Nayeli had to stay home to care for her two young girls. Fabian works as a chauffeur for a company delivering produce, earning approx. $70 a week while working 6-7 days a week. This family wants to build a better and safer home because their small room is made of old wood and a plastic roof. Most importantly, they want the best for their daughters.

Alejandro works as a builder/handyman/plumber. His salary varies based on the jobs he gets and he works 6 or sometimes 7 days of the week. A neighbor helps to watch their daughter, taking her to and from school and caring for her until Graciela and/or Alejandro are home from work. Graciela has faith that they will have a house and be able to be together as a family more than before.

Not long ago, they didn't even have a place to live until someone let them live in their small camper trailer which isn't in good conditions. Their desire as parents is that they would be able to have a home and a better life. And even though their circumstances haven't provided that yet, they haven't lost faith that one day it will happen for them.
