Family Story:

Alejandro and Graciela are from Sonora and they met while working in a factory, and they also went to the same high school. They started to hang out as friends and later began a serious relationship and moved in together. Graciela became pregnant with their daughter, they got married three years ago and then moved to Ensenada. After arriving in Ensenada, they rented with a cousin of Alejandro. They decided they didn't want to pay so much in rent and got a piece of land where they started to build a year ago. Graciela would like to have an actual home where she feels good, where they live now is just a small one room structure that measures 3 meters by 4 meters. They would like to build something bigger in order to have their kitchen inside, a room to sleep in and that their daughter might have her own room as well. They are still continuing to pay off their land; the monthly payment is about $58. Graciela works Monday-Friday, 7am to 5 pm, earning approx. $70 a week in a factory. Alejandro works as a builder/handyman/plumber. His salary varies based on the jobs he gets and he works 6 or sometimes 7 days of the week. A neighbor helps to watch their daughter, taking her to and from school and caring for her until Graciela and/or Alejandro are home from work. Graciela has faith that they will have a house and be able to be together as a family more than before.
