Family Story:

Fabian is originally from Sonora, he came to Ensenada more than 5 years ago to live with his aunt and find work here. Nayeli is from Oaxaca and also moved to Ensenada around 5 years ago. Nayeli came with the intentions of working and supporting her large family back home. Nayeli met Fabian's aunt at a small shop that she owns. It was there at the shop that Fabian and Nayeli eventually met and later began dating. Shortly after beginning a relationship together, Nayeli had to return to her parents in Oaxaca. Nayeli and Fabian got engaged and Nayeli returned home with the fear that her parents weren't going to let her leave them again. Three months after returning home, her parents gave her permission to return to Ensenada and Nayeli surprised Fabian. At this time, Nayeli found out she was pregnant with Fabian's child. They were both living in a rented room when they brought their daughter home. When their daughter was 8 months old, Nayeli was once again pregnant. It was at that time that they decided to get a piece of land and build their own home to live in. They continue to pay off the land, the montly payment being approx. $58. They had a rough start, and struggled to build a home. They were given the wood from a lady who was moving back to Oaxaca and had tore down her house. Their second daughter was born and Nayeli had to stay home to care for her two young girls. Fabian works as a chauffeur for a company delivering produce, earning approx. $70 a week while working 6-7 days a week. This family wants to build a better and safer home because their small room is made of old wood and a plastic roof. Most importantly, they want the best for their daughters.
