FAMILY STORY:
Gerardo is 31 years old and Clara is 30 years old, they are from Guerrero in south México. They have one son, Gerardo who is 12 years old and is in 7th grade.
Ten years ago, they moved to Ensenada because in Guerrero the situation was really hard. They couldn’t find any job and they have no money. When they arrived to Ensenada they got a job in the fields, but the job was too hard on Clara. The many hours, the stress and the chemicals made Clara lose a baby and start bleeding which needed six months to be stopped.
With a lot of hard work they were able to buy a piece of land and made a small room with scraps that they could find or buy. Gerardo works all week packing vegetables making $145 pesos per week (Around $8 USD). The house they live is in really bad shape as it is barely standing and can’t really protect them from rain or cold.
