Family Story:
Pedro is originally from Zacatecas and Rosalia is from Oaxaca. They met 7 years ago here in Ensenada when they both worked in the fields. They have been together for 4 years. Rosalia became pregnant at the age of 42 and for that reason, they had to spend a lot of money as she was considered high risk. After their daughter was born they decided to buy land on credit and make a home for themselves as a family but due to the fact that they always had to pay rent and the cost of the pregnancy and medical care during and after, they have been unable to save money to build a home. They are currently living in a shack they built with scrap wood. They put up a tent inside to sleep so they can shut out insects and rain, but they still fear for their daughter’s health and safety. For them to receive a house it would mean that they would be given safety and health for them and for their young daughter.
