Family Story:
Petra used to live in San Quintin with her mother; there were a lot of people living with her mother and it was hard for them to find work. Petra and her father went to work in the USA and that is where Petra met Elasio. They started a relationship and moved in together, shortly after they had their first child together. Petra’s mother became ill and she convinced Elasio to move back to Mexico with her so she could care for her mother. After three years with Petra’s mother, they moved to Ensenada where Elasio’s mother lived. They lived with Elasio’s mother for awhile before moving to a relative’s empty house. Elasio’s mother decided to sell them her land so that they could have their own place to settle down. Elasio and Petra had no money to build a house so Elasio’s brother, Ernesto (the YWAM Ensenada cook), gave them some wood and helped them to build a place to live and introduced them to Homes of Hope.
