Leyda is 33 years old and is from Michoacán. She has three kids: Dana who is 14 years old and is in 8th grade, Arles who is 13 years old and is in 7th grade, and Nancy who is 11 years old and is in 5th grade.
Leyda is a single mom, she separated from her husband 1 year ago because he was physically abusive. She even pressed charges against him. She lives on some property that she and her ex-husband bought together with a loan. She is currently still paying it. With her mom and brother’s help she built a small room with wood and tarps. She receives $500 pesos per week (Around $27 USD) from her ex-husband as child support. Her mom also lives with her. Her mom receives $2,300 pesos per month from her retirement (Around $130 USD.) and they also use that for their needs.
Leyda is very proud of her children, all of them have top grades in their schools. Leyda desires to have a Home of Hope to provide a better place to raise her kids and where she and her mom can be comfortable raising her children together.
