FAMILY STORY:
Margarito and Margarita are from Oaxaca. They met each other in Culiacan Sinaloa, where both were working in the tomatoes fields. They went back to Oaxaca and Margarito spoke to Margarita’s dad to get his blessing and they got married sometime after that.
They had 6 children there, three boys and three girls. Luis who is 22 years old has his own house in the same land, Rosalia who is 19 and has a newborn baby (She, her boyfriend and her baby also live with her parents), Rolando who is 16 years old, Celso who is 14 years old, Yessica who is 12 years old and Judith who is 10 years old. Celso has a problem with his inferior lip, which is too big. He stopped going to school because he was bullied a lot. He needs a surgical intervention.
The working situations in Oaxaca was really hard, there was almost no work so they decided to move to Ensenada because there is more work and is better pay. They live with different family members for a time. They first lived in Margarito’s uncle ranch and later in Margarito’s brother land, but Margarito worked hard to get a property for his family and in 2017 he was able to buy a land for 35,000 Pesos (Around 2000 dlls).
Four months ago, they build a house with pieces of wood and plastic they got and moved in. Margarito works in a water plant and earns 1,100 pesos per week (Around 64 dlls), while Margarita stays home taking care of the kids.
They are wishing to receive a bigger house because the one they have is too small. The parents are wishing to give their children a better and safer place where to live and grow.
