Marcelo and Maria, along with their 3 children, are a family that have been in many different living situations; from renting to living in homes lent to them, and now the small one room house they live in made from tarps. They currently cook, sleep, and live in the same room. Their floor is dirt. It is very difficult for them having to deal with the different weather situations we've been going through here with all the storms. Three years ago they got the land they currently live on, they moved to it about 8 months ago and continue to pay it off. Marcelo works doing labor jobs and earns about $75 a week when he is employed. Maria does not work. Their salary is insufficient to be able to build a safe and secure home. As a family their desire is to be able to have a home where they can live safe.
