Berenice is originally from Ensenada, she has a 4 year old son named Axel. Axel was born with an imperforate anus and has had 3 surgeries to correct it; he still needs 2 more. Axel’s father abandoned them before Axel was born. Axel needs a clean home that is dry and free of dirt, dust. Before and after each operation, Axel has a hygiene regimen to follow and for this reason, Berenice has not been able to live on her land. She doesn’t have the resources needed to build a home and they cannot live in a room with a dirt floor while Axel is undergoing these surgeries and recovery times.
