Family Story:
Nuria and Marcos met 9 years ago and started their relationship. Marcos invited Nuria to move in with him at his mother’s house and she did, and that is where they welcomed their son Damian. After Damian was born, Marcos’ brother lent them a house he had that nobody was living in, they lived there for 4 years. Damian has always struggled with his health, he was hospitalized for a week after birth due to not breathing well. When Damian was 1 yr old they noticed he was not sleeping well, was very restless and anxious. At the age of 2, they diagnosed Damian with autism and ADD. Damian takes medications and is seen by a speech pathologist and other specialists to support his development. He also attends a special school. Because of all this, Nuria is unable to have a job outside of the house and cares for their son full-time. They live in a small wood house that has two rooms, one is the living area and the other for sleeping. Marcos and his family built the rooms they haev been living in. Marcos is also diabetic and takes medications, making things even harder for them.
