Family Story:

Rufina was born in Oaxaca and moved to Ensenada with her family when she was 5 years old. In 2009 she married the father of her children after getting pregnant with their first child. They were married for 4 years. In 2013 Rufina separated from her husband and went back to Oaxaca with family. She found out she was pregnant and saw that life was more difficult in Oaxaca than it was in Ensenada. In 2017 Rufina decided to come back to Ensenada and her sister borrowed her money so Rufina could get tickets for her and her children and moved back into her mothers house in Ensenada. Rufina discovered that her ex-husband was with a new family so she divorced him. Rufina got a piece of land on credit with the help of an aunt and she continues to pay it off each month. Rufina and her father built a small room and outhouse on the property for them to live in, but it has been very difficult for her and the children to be there. Rufina as a single mother does not earn enough money to provide anything better for her children and all she wants is to live together in a place that is safe, clean and dry.
