Mariela was a single mother, she was 17 years old when she gave birth to her son Kristian. Kristian’s father decided he wanted nothing to do with the child. At the time Mariela was living with her mother and helping to care for her two siblings as well. Mariela eventually got a job and started working for a packaging company, and that is where she met Juan. They were married and Mariela got pregnant with her second child, but she lost the child and doctors told her that she wouldn’t be able to have any more children. Shortly after she was pregnant again, and after a complicated pregnancy, Naomy was born and a very healthy and perfect baby girl. Kristian is in school and wants to be a police officer when he grows up. Juan Jose, Mariela’s husband, works as a security guard for a greenhouse.
