Family Story:
Elodia is a single mom, she has two kids Rodolfo and Roxanna. Elodia´s ex-husband had another family back in Oaxaca, where they are originally from, but she didn’t know about them as he never mentioned it. After Rodolfo was born, her ex he went back to Oaxaca to visit his mother but never came back to Ensenada. It’s been really hard for Elodia to contact him because they have no phone service where his family is in Oaxaca. Elodia lives in a little shed made of wood scraps and a dirt floor. She works in the fields when she can, but sometimes is unable to go because her children are still just babies. Elodia’s parents live with her and help her with the household expenses. Elodia doesn´t have enough money to pay for a babysitter so when she does work, her mom takes care of her daughters. Elodia´s mom suffers from diabetes and back pain and it can be hard for her to keep up with the grandkids. Elodia’s hope is to have a home where she can feel safe.
