FAMILY STORY:
Maribel is originally from Michoacan and is a single mother. Her husband never wanted the responsibility of taking care of his children so he chose to stay in Michoacan when she moved to Ensenada with the kids. She left there because she wanted to protect her two sons from the crime and for the fear they would get taken by the drug cartels. Maribel works at a company where they grow organic vegetables. She doesn't earn much money and therefore doesn't have the resources to build a house and have two kids in school. Jose Emiliano, the youngest son, has a vocabulary problem that's made it difficult to keep up with school, and has fallen behind. Right now Maribel has a small piece of land she's purchased where they live, but would like to have something safe for her kids.
