FAMILY STORY:

Adela is 41 years old and Esteban Luis is 44 years old, they are from Oaxaca. They have 5 children: Angel who is 21 years old, Rogelio who is 18 years old, Anayeli who is 16 years old, Jesus is 15 years old and Rosalba who is 6 years old.

Oaxaca is one of the poorest and less developed states in Mexico. They have been living in Ensenada for one year, they came looking for work and a better life. In the beginning they were living on some property someone lent to them, but later they decided to buy their own property and move there. They built a small room with wood scraps and a tarp. They have no electricity, water or drainage. Only Jesús goes to school, as they don’t have the resources for all their children to go to school. The older kids also lack some of their basic documents, so it’s hard for them to find a job. Esteban’s mother also lives with them, as her husband died and now they take care of her.
