Maura is from Veracruz, she is 57 years old and is a widow. She has a son who is a taxi driver in Veracruz, a daughter, Paulina who lives with her, and two grand daughters, Betsy who is 12 years old and is in 6° grade of elementary school and Leslie who is 11 years old and is in 5° grade of elementary school. She is from Veracruz where she met her husband, they got married, had their two children and had a life together. In 2004 looking for a better life they decided to move to Ensenada. In 2010 Maura's husband died of cirrhosis. Paulina is a single mom, she lived in Mexico City for a time but she had problems with her family and decided to move to Ensenada with her parents. Now both work hard to support Laura's grand daughters. Maura work selling cloth in a second hand store (a "Segunda") and candies, and Paulina works in a lamp factory. It's their desire to receive a Homes of Hope house where they can be safe and where their kids can grow and be happy in a place they can really call home
