FAMILY STORY:
The Lopez Mendoza family is a big one, Domingo is the father and he is 50 years old. His wife Juana is 37 and both come from the city of Oaxaca, in the state of the same name in center México. They have 4 children: Miguel Angel is the younger with 2 years old, next is Aurelio with 7 years old, followed by Ernesto who is 15 years old and finally they have Ana who is 17 years old. Only Aurelio goes to school, he is 2th grade of elementary school. Ana, the older daughter, is already living together with her boyfriend, but because they don’t have a place to live they live with her parents.
The family lives in a small trailer which is insufficient for the 7 members of the family. Santiago is sick, he has gastritis and anemia. He constantly suffers from intense pain in his stomach which render him incapable of working. His wife Juana stays home taking care of her and the family. The only incomes they have come from Ana and Ernesto, the two older sons who work on the fields from Monday to Saturday. The money they earn is insufficient for the all their needs.
The trailer where they live is too small for them, it’s also not appropriate for the weather that can go from cold and wet to really hot and dry in the same day. They wish to have a real home where they can feel free and safe.
