Family Story:
Isabel was born in Sonora. Later in life she got married and moved to Chihuahua and lived there with her husband and kids. Nine years ago they got separated and Isabel moved to Ensenada with the children. Her ex-husband, till this day, hasn’t economically supported her and the children. Since then, Isabel and her children have been on their own. They moved in with Isabel’s mother at first but then bought a property and built a small room where they have lived in for the past 2 years.
Isabel’s daughter Dulce has a 3-year-old girl but the father doesn’t economically support them either. Eduardo, Isabel’s oldest child, doesn’t study so he’s working at a car wash. Isabel works at a “maquiladora” and earns $600 pesos, or approximately $35, a week from Monday to Friday. Isabel doesn’t earn enough money to build a decent house for her and her children. She also suffers from epilepsy which has been difficult for her and her ability to work.
