Even though her doctor told her she’d never have more children, she buys the crib in faith that God can do a miracle. Not long after, she and her husband celebrate the birth of their second child. A miracle child in a home filled with hope.
In Romania, Elizabeth needs a safe, secure home for her family. As a single mother, she struggles to provide for all her children’s needs. In a faraway city, a group of young men grew up in families like Elizabeth’s, many with single mothers. Their lives were drastically changed when they were children, as each of their families received a Homes of Hope. Now, as adults, these young men work hard, save money, and travel to Elizabeth to build her the home she needs.
In Costa Rica, there is no stopping Nysol. Her tenacious spirit fuels her fight for a better life for her two children. She works a full-time job, is a single parent, and is finishing her high school education. Now that her family lives in a Home of Hope, she knows her family has a secure foundation. With a promising job promotion on the horizon, Nysol continues to press forward with hope.
In Ukraine, Tonya’s life is torn apart by war that destroys their family home. They live in a newly occupied territory and apply for a Home of Hope. Soon after, her husband is deployed to the front lines. The joy of her new home is sobered by the report of her husband’s death on the battlefield. Tonya’s family takes solace in the safety of her new home, holding on to hope for peace to arrive soon.
In Uganda, Celeste, her daughters, and their children gather in her home. A few years have passed since her Home of Hope was built, but nothing can lessen the generational impact that this one house will have. The cycle of poverty is broken. Three generations are transformed. Many more will be blessed.
Around the world, God hears mothers’ prayers. Homes of Hope met the needs of these five mothers and thousands more by providing shelter and safety for them and their families. This Mother’s Day, we recognize mothers around the world. Many more prayers will be answered as Homes of Hope continues to expand its global impact. To every mother in every corner of the globe, we celebrate you.
