Axel’s father abandoned them before Axel was born. Axel needs a clean home that is dry and free of dirt, dust. Before and after each operation, Axel has a hygiene regimen to follow and for this reason, Berenice has not been able to live on her land. She doesn’t have the resources needed to build a home and they cannot live in a room with a dirt floor while Axel is undergoing these surgeries and recovery times. Berenice and Axel have been living with Berenice’s mom.

Noemi then decided to to build a room on her land, she got help to do it and they moved to the land. Noemi wakes up around 4 am to get things ready for the day, get her kids to school and then get herself to work. Noemi gets off work at 2:30 and then picks up her kids. Noemi just dreams of being able to give her boys a proper home, when up until now she has done everything she possibly could for them and will continue to do so. But, providing a decent and safe home is not something she can do on her own.

Cesar grew up without his parents, he lived with his aunts and grandparents. Brenda and Cesar are both from Mexico City, they got married when they were just 15 years old. They started out living with Brenda’s parents. There were some problems that arose between them and Brenda’s family and they decided it was best to move out. Cesar’s grandma in Ensenada heard about what was going on in Mexico City and sent for them. Once in Ensenada, Cesar and Brenda lived with the grandma before finding jobs and a house they could rent. They rented for a year and a half before finding the land they currently live on. Their oldest son, Diego, was born while they lived in Mexico City. Emilio was born while they were in their rental. Cesar gets up every day at 7am to take Diego to school and then goes to work. Brenda stays home with Emilio. When Cesar gets home, he is typically found working on his land and getting it leveled and ready to build a home on it.

Carolina is a single mom of two. She separated from the father of her children about 1 yr ago. The man was irresponsible, didn’t care for his children, and it was unhealthy atmosphere for the family. When Carolina left her husband, she moved in with a friend of hers before finding a piece of land she could build her own house on. Carolina’s cousin and neighbors helped her build a room on her land so her and the kids had a place to live. Carolina works from 5:30 am to 2:30 pm Monday-Saturday; a neighbor helps her by taking the son to school and the youngest to a lady from their church. Carolina has not had the resources needed to build a home and she does not receive any help from her children’s father, she really needs a lot of help.
