FAMILY STORY:

Baldomero and Sandra Edith came from Oaxaca, they have two little children; Christian Osvaldo, 5 years old, who goes to kinder garden and Edgar Daniel, 11 years old, who is almost done with elementary school. They arrived to Ensenada a year ago. The reason to move here was because Baldomero didn’t know his mom. He had 28 years without seeing her, when he came to Ensenada he finally was able to meet his mom, nerveless they had to face the challenge of not having a place to live, so they tried renting a place for a while. Later her mom offered him a place to live, but it was a very hard situation, the place was too small and they were too many, it was obvious that the family needed its own place to live. They decided to buy a land with a cost of 8,000 dollars, which they are still paying. In that property they were able to build a small room with recycled wood. In this little room they sleep, cook and rest. Baldomero and Sandra biggest desire is to have an adequate place for their children, because the one they have right now is not safe for them, and their children keep growing. They work their hardest in order to give their children a place where they can smile and create memories that would endure forever in their minds.

FAMILY STORY:

Arturo and Jacinta came from Oaxaca. He is 49 years old and she is 44. They met in Mexico City and after sometime knowing each other, they decided to live together. They lived in Oaxaca for a while where they had 5 children; Salvador who is 24, Valeria who is 22, Monica who is 18, Luz Esperanza who is 14 and Mariela who is 9. They decided to move to Ensenada, looking for a job and a better life. They found a job working in the fields and they started to rent a little house.

After some time they decided to buy a property with a credit, which they are still paying. Monica and Salvador work with his dad in the fields while Valeria stays in home taking care of her mom. Jacinta had a surgery in May, she had problems with her vesicle and appendix, the surgery was successful but later the stiches opened and she got an infection, so Valeria has to stay in home to take care of her while Mariela and Luz Esperanza go to school.

Valeria has a child of her own, Yesenia who is 7 years old. She separated from her husband because he has problems with alcohol and they were constantly fighting. She decided to leave him and move in with her parents.

Salvador also has a daughter but he separated from his wife and is paying child maintenance to support her daughter.

As you can see, this is a big family who work hard and try their best to support each other.

FAMILY STORY:

Gregorio and Natividad came from Oaxaca. They have been living together for 30 years. They have three children, Eugenio, Isaac and Cesar. In Oaxaca they were having a hard time finding a job, and the ones they could find were poorly paid, around 5 dollars per day, so they decided to leave Oaxaca and moved to Ensenada.

Gregorio and Natividad are not capable of work anymore. Natividad has diabetes and one of her arms is hurt. Gregorio received a strong hit in her back and now he has problems to walk. Their two older kids, Eugenio and Isaac, are the ones who are working now to support their family, while his younger brother Cesar goes to school.

They live all together in a small wood room. All five of them plus Jacinta’s mom.

FAMILY STORY:

Felipe and Felix are from Puebla, and met in Ensenada. They stared living together and after few months they were expecting their first daughter. Felix used to sell burritos but had arthritis and had to stop working. After this they had there second daughter. As time went on, they decided to buy the property on credit and stared little by little building a room out of wood. Felipe works in a factory doing different jobs, painting, welding, and has a salary of 3,500 pesos every 2 weeks. Felix and Felipe are grateful to God because they have their own property, but they have faith that He will also provide for a house.

Antonio y Victoria are from Oaxaca, they came to Ensenada looking for jobs and to have a better life. They have 3 kids but the youngest has asthma. In 2013, they paid of their property and 2 weeks ago, they moved on to their property. They built a room made of wood, some was donated and it is very old wood. Antonio works packing vegetables and works all week with a weekly salary of 900 pesos. Is been very difficult for them to build a better house, but they have faith that God will provide a better home for their kids.
