FAMILY STORY:
Sandi is 30 years old and is from Guerrero, a state in the center of Mexico. She has 5 children: Paola who is 13 years old and is in 8th grade, Victor who is 9 years old and is in 3rd grade, Samira who is 7 years old and is in 2nd grade, Marisol who is 4 years old and is in kindergarten and Diana who is 1 year old.
Sandi is going through a hard time. Five years ago, she and her husband applied and received a HOH, but the property was in her husband’s name. Recently they got divorced and her husband kicked her out of the house with the children. She is now living on another property lot that she is paying for. The price of the property is $800 USD, and she is paying 100 dlls per month.
Sandi doesn’t receive any help from her ex-husband; the government gives her scholarship support for her older daughter, 2,200 pesos per month (around $130 USD). With that money, she makes the property payments and buys what they need at home.
