“Our Ensenada facility is able to comfortably accommodate families for our DTS program. In the future we plan to include families in all of our DTS locations, but due to limited facilities we are strongly encouraging families to attend DTS at the Ensenada location.”
Every September our Ensenada facility offers the option for families to join us with our multi-generational DTS. DTS class schedules are adapted for families to be able to spend time together as a family unit and certain parts of the DTS, such as work duties, are only required by one of the parents.
Up-rooting your family from the comfortable “norm” of everyday life to come and do a discipleship school is a scary thing. As a parent you want to make sure that there is something for your child(ren) while you are in your school. But don’t worry, we have it covered. While you are doing your lecture phase of your DTS (the first three months) your children will have the opportunity to attend the Foundation School. After the lecture phase your children will be joining you on your outreach.
“The Foundation School was fantastic! My children were nurtured in the next best environment to home!” – Karen W. (Parent)
The Foundation School is first and foremost discipleship training for children. Its goal is to teach children biblical principles and equip the whole family as a ministry team. During the time spent in class and living on base, families are strengthened and encouraged to bond as a unit so they can effectively minister to one another. We are committed to the principle that when we seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, “all these things” including academic understanding will be added unto us. We place an emphasis on working out our faith in practical ways.
Students will be:
- Receiving discipleship training daily
- Taught by a variety of teachers and missionaries
- Encouraged to know God in a personal and intimate way
- Learning to intercede in prayer and to hear the voice of God
- Taught and encouraged to pray for each other
- Getting involved in outreach with the community along with your DTS school
“The Foundation School has been an encouragement to our children and their faith. We are super pleased with the entire experience, excellent teachers!” - Parent
Academic Information
The students will be taking advantage living in Mexico and will be studying history and geography of Mexico for the three months while you are here. The students will also participate in language classes, P.E. and be given reading assignments. Older students will be asked to complete book reports.
As for Math and any other subject that you would like your child to continue with we ask that you bring the curriculum and over see their assigning and grading. We’ll have class time to work on these subjects but you as the parent are responsible for these subjects. The Foundation School teachers will give limited help in the class room. No Foundation School grade will be given for these subjects.
Classes are Monday-Friday from 8 am to 3 pm. On occasion your children will be joining you with weekend activities. Currently we offer the Foundation School for children ages 5-17. Families with children younger then 5 may opt to bring a Nanny.
Foundation School Prices
We are trying to make the Foundation School affordable for you so you easily come down and receive discipleship training.
The following fees are for meals, accommodations and the Foundation School for your children during the three month lecture phase in Ensenada. Prices are subject to change.
- Children ages 5-11 years old $975 USD
- Children ages 12-17 years old $1,290 USD
There is also a non-refundable application fee.
The outreach fees vary depending on the outreach location, which will be determined once the school begins. The outreach costs approximately between $1500 U.S. to $2500 U.S. per person, regardless of age. For children younger then 5 years old the cost for housing and accommodations is $195.
Information about Nannies
The costs for a nanny (if you chose to bring one) during the lecture phase is $900US.
Parents with children under the age of five or single parents with children under the age of 12 are required to bring a nanny along with them.
The nanny is someone who joins alongside of you during this time to support you in your process of growth with God. In the past families who have brought nannies have not brought a hired-hand, they have brought someone who is part of their church, family or a friend who wanted to experience another part of the world and of missions, and support the family coming for DTS.
Costs: We do have a housing fee for the nanny which is $900 for the lecture phase. It is optional to bring the nanny on the outreach. Price for the Nanny’s outreach will be discussed during lecture phase.
Housing: The Nanny will either stay with YWAM staff or DTS students during the lecture phase.
