HOW WE STUDY
“Inductive Study Method”. Once you have studied the “History and Culture” of the Author of each book, and of the people whom the Holy Spirit intended to reach, then you can begin the study “process”:
OBSERVE the text until you “see” the clear meaning of the words…
then, INTERPRET the most likely message to the ORIGINAL Readers (not to you)…
then, APPLICATION of those principles in YOUR life and culture today.
lather, rinse, and repeat…
This inductive process uses the commonly accepted historical facts surrounding each book of the Bible in order for YOU to develop YOUR OWN well-informed conclusions regarding the most likely meaning of Biblical passages. It’s a “filter” that you can confidently use for the rest of your life…
“Inductive is a term that is contrasted to the term ‘Deductive’ bible study. Deductive is when you interpret the text based on what you already believe. Deductive is a default way of study. Depending on your upbringing, your national heritage, your religious background everyone will have a different interpretation. However, we have seen that using the inductive method, people from all over the world and from all different backgrounds can put ourselves into the mindset of the Original Readers, knowing their concerns, their struggles, and their way of life and using that to better understand the message God intended for them. When we know that message we know what is true today and begin to discuss how we can all with our various backgrounds trust Gods Word to impact our lives. “
